Blended using the best of the best in seed cultivars, nothing compares to its level of germination rates, colour, shoot density and disease resistance. Every cultivar contained in our Platinum Pro mixes are at the very top of their respective categories. This is the first time such a mix has been available in the UK and we are very proud to be able to offer it to our customers.

Sowing Guides

Sowing a new lawn: -

  • Dig the soil over to a depth of 20-30cm.
  • Remove any large stones in the area & weeds by hand or you can use a Weed killer for the weeds.
  • Add some top soil to the area if the soil is poor quality or unlevel .
  • Rake the area to get a level seedbed.
  • At this point you could add our Pre-Seeder fertiliser 1 week prior to seeding, you can also get this product and the fertiliser in our Multi-Save pack.
  • Sow the seed at our recommended rate of 35g per m2, by hand or using a spreader.
  • Rake the seed in well after sowing so that the seed is just under the surface of the soil.
  • Compact the surface down by foot or by using a roller, this will provide much better seed to soil contact.
  • Water well straight away and continue to keep the area moist until established, leaving the area to dry out will really delay the process.
  • Please Click Here for our more in-depth guide on how to sow a new lawn.

Over-seeding an existing lawn: -

  • Remove any Thatch (dead grass), moss or weeds by scarifying/raking the area, for moss and weeds you could use our Weed, Feed & Moss Killer Fertiliser, you can also get this product and the fertiliser in our Multi-Save Pack.
  • Scarify/Rake the area enough until the soil has loosened and is no longer compact.
  • Sow the seed at our recommended rate of 20g per m2, by hand or using a spreader.
  • Rake the seed in the best you can after sowing so the seed gets better contact with the soil, if you can apply a light layer of top dressing, not only will this improve germination it also greatly reduces bird take.
  • Compact the surface down by foot or by using a roller, this will provide much better seed to soil contact.
  • Water well straight away and continue to keep the area moist until established, leaving the area to dry out will really delay the process.
  • Please Click Here for our more in-depth guide on how to over-seed an existing lawn.

Aftercare

  • Remember to water your lawn well daily for the next six-eight weeks and avoid when prolonged rainfall is present.
  • Your lawn can take up to 6 to 8 weeks to fully establish.
  • Once you have an even coverage throughout the lawn and the grass reaches a height of 3-4 inches your lawn is ready for its first cut on the highest setting or taking the top inch off.
  •  Keeping your lawn healthy is important, make sure you fertilise regularly to keep the lawn green and disease/weed free, Click Here to see our full range of seasonal fertilisers.
